How Companies are Attracting Top Talent and How You Can, Too

Attract top talent with RPO

Everyone is searching for those top tier candidates. The ones with the skills, knowledge, and the drive to go above the job description and better yet, fit in with the company culture. You’re looking for the person who walks into your office and stars suddenly align because you found the perfect candidate. So how do you find and attract this star-aligning candidate? Let us share.

The Work-Life Balance: Job seekers are looking for flexibility in their work schedules. They’re ditching the 9-to-5 mentality and looking for autonomy, some even saying they would take a cut in pay by more than 10 percent in order to have flexibility in the workplace. One company that does a great job promoting work-life balance is Colgate – Palmolive, who offers flexible work hours, telecommuting opportunities and childcare centers. Being able to offer these benefits is something they take pride in as part of their company culture and has led to a high rate of retention.

The Big Picture: With 41 percent of millennials expecting to stay at a job for two years or less, it’s critical to help provide the candidate with more than the here and now. Help them to understand how they can grow with the company. IBM has created a two-year course that allows new hires to learn how to be successful at the company. They also offer training before they ever start their job. All of these efforts have led to 80 percent of new hires being less likely to leave before one year at the company. Laying out how a candidate can grow and advance in your company is valuable to recruiting and retaining your new hires.

The Culture: Being able to identify your company culture and showcasing that using social media, your website and living it is key to finding if someone is going to be a great fit culturally. Nineteen percent of executives said new hires leave because they don’t like the company’s culture. Employees that agree with the mission, values and beliefs are more likely to have more job satisfaction, stay with a company and have better performance.
